Alex Smith and his Kansas City Chiefs have it all going for them this
season. They've had a plan, and they've executed it to perfection, so
perfect that they're now 8-0 after their 23-17 victory over the
Cleveland Browns. The Browns will take heart that they held the NFL's
best team (on current form) to within a touchdown. It's something for
the Browns to build on- that's for sure.
Alex Smith continued to prove his doubters wrong as he threw for 225
yards and two touchdowns. The Browns fell to 3-4 as back-up quarterback
Jason Campbell, starting ahead of the poor Brandon Weeden, threw for 293
yards and two touchdowns. His performance proved that Weeden has to
leave Cleveland. Both Campbell and Brian Hoyer have proved far better
than Weeden, which says a lot about Weeden considering their limited
minutes.
Josh Gordon continued his impressive form in the build up to the NFL
trade deadline, in which he is still linked with a trade to a bigger
team, as he caught for 132 yards and one touchdown. Elsewhere, tight end
Jordan Cameron caught for 81 yards, proving his early form is no fluke.
The Browns are still in serious need of a running back as they've
struggled in that aspect since the trade of Trent Richardson, however,
with the many picks they have in next years draft, they'll be sure to
eradicate that problem swiftly. The Chiefs had no such problem as their
start running back Jamaal Charles rushed for 74 yards, putting in
another decent game in an already impressive season.
Next up for the Cleveland Browns is a home game against their arch
rivals the Baltimore Ravens. A win, at home, against their arch enemies,
also the defending champs, would surely revitalise the Brown's season,
and it would put them to 4-4. I think the Browns will stay close, but
may win this one.
